(Boise, Idaho) The Better Business Bureau has received numerous calls this week from consumers reporting high school and college-age individuals selling magazines door-to-door.
People calling the BBB report being told the salesperson is raising money to get their lives back on track or to earn money for college.
Sales people claim to be working for Urban Nation; also known as Freedom Sales. The company is based in Texas and has an F rating with the Houston BBB. The BBB has processed 69 complaints; the company has failed to respond to 40 of the complaints filed.
The BBB has checked with city clerk offices throughout the Treasure Valley to learn that no door-to-door sales permits have been issued to the company or to individuals representing the company.
Your BBB offers the following advice regarding door-to-door magazine sales:
- Ask to see the solicitor’s local license to sell door-to-door.
- Make sure the company discloses your three day right to cancel in writing.
- Ask for identification. The solicitor should have an identification card identifying the company they are soliciting for.
- Verify the company’s reputation by calling your BBB at 208-342-4649 or visit www.bbb.org
