Who We Are
The Better Business Bureau of Southwest Idaho serves 13 Counties in Southern Idaho, two counties in Eastern Oregon, and is one of more than 180 Better Business Bureaus in the United States and Canada. We are a private, nonprofit organization that strives to promote and foster high ethical standards in business through self-regulation, education and other programs. Support for the Better Business Bureau is derived primarily through dues support of member companies.

How We Began
Better Business Bureaus began in the early 1900's when an informal group of business leaders joined to promote truthful advertising. This BBB was founded in 1962 for much the same reason. Now, years later, truth in advertising remains a primary program. In addition, this Bureau offers several business enhancement programs to advance the marketplace integrity upon which consumer trust is built.

Our Work
Businesses are the members, partners, investors, and #1 customers of the Better Business Bureau.  At the national levels in the US and Canada and in communities throughout North America, we work with businesses of all sizes to encourage, support, and showcase marketplace integrity, business ethics and reliability, and best practice.  We enlist businesses in voluntary initiatives to set standards and practice self-regulation, and provide forums for dispute resolution.  We offer trustmark programs for businesses to showcase their trustworthiness.  And we expose sub-standard marketplace behavior.

Ultimately, our value to our members is driven by the ability to deliver consumers to trustworty business.  So while we strive to be the partner of choice for business on marketplace and consume trust issues, we have an equal and compelling commitment to be the resource of choice for consumers.  We educate consumers.  We gather and provide the reliable data that allows consumers to do business with companies they know are ethical and trustworthy.  We build consumer demand for the trustworthy marketplace.
